The Chongnyu People’s Open-air Ice Rink is a mass sports and cultural base which was completed in a unique style in November Juche 101(2012) under the meticulous care and guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who intended to translate the plan and desire of Chairman Kim Jong Il into reality.

The indoor ice rink can accommodate over 200 persons an hour and its guides teach skating as required by customers and it lends auxiliary apparatuses.

Standing with the corrugated roof in good harmony with the scenery of the clear and blue Taedong River, the open-air ice rink is fully provided with conditions for skating even in hot summer as well as cold winter.

It is associated with the leadership exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

In the last year of his life the Chairman personally approved the layouts of the open-air ice rink and the Chongnyu Health Complex and gave valuable instructions for their construction several times.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected the dust-swirling construction site of the ice rink on May 24 Juche 101(2012). Two months later, despite midsummer heat, he visited again the ice rink nearing completion to learn about problems arising in operating it before teaching the solutions in detail.

During his another visit to the ice rink just before its inauguration in early November that year, he pleasantly saw working people and children skating there, saying that it was built splendidly.
